An illustrator and expressionistic painter, Michael Fitzjames has the latest exhibition " Back And Forth " at the Australian Galleries in Paddington. The " Back And Forth " exhibition shows Michael Fitzjames's deep experience and observation in going to the past, back to old places and things encountered back and forth, the more he discovered the more something else emerged...
The exhibition shows Michael's marvelous enjoyment in particular landscape setting and urban architecture around the world such as in Shanghai alley, St Eustache, Paris, Bologna, Skyscraper NY, Sydney cityscape, Panopticon, Polhill’s corner, Clovelly, Menangle viaduct , A soft day, St Albans, and Summer Palace in Beijing.
According to Australian Galleries, " ... He worked as an illustrator for the Guardian Newspaper from 1978 to 1980, the National Times from 1980 to 1989 and the Sydney Morning Herald from 1990. His work has been included in the Lewers Bequest exhibition in 1987 and cartoon exhibitions held at the National Museum of Australia, Canberra in 2005. His work is held by the State Library of New South Wales, the State Library of Victoria and the Lewers Bequest, Penrith. A monograph of Fitzjames’ work was published in 1986 titled ‘Michael Fitzjames: Drawings’ by Stained Wattle Press. " Source: Australian Galleries
